Gala Performance Fun Cup Track day at Donington Park
As official partners of the Fun Cup Championship, we we're thrilled to be invited down to Donington Park to have a go in one of their cars for the day. This was an opportunity we were more than happy to take them up on.
The Car
Built for the thrill of endurance racing, the Fun Cup isn't your average single-seater. It's a purpose-built machine designed to be accessible and exciting for drivers of all skill levels.
Powered by a 1.8l Audi/VW engine paired with a 5-speed Sadev sequential gearbox with optional paddle shift. These custom built cars utilise a space-frame chassis surrounded by a fiberglass body panels for easy repairs.
Drivers benefit from adjustable suspension, Bilstein dampers, and GITI GTR2 endurance tires mounted on lightweight alloy wheels.
Additional features include adjustable power steering, optional data logging, and a central driver position for enhanced control.
Finally, all cars employ a dry brake refuelling system for safety and efficiency.
As Fans of the Fun cup for years, our directors Mark and Andrew were always keen to get behind the wheel and as proud sponsors of this years season, we were invited down for a taster session at Donington Park.
This was an opportunity we couldn't pass up on.
Out first was our Business Development Manager Nathan who made his racing debut in 2022 here at this very circuit after passing his ARDS test just a week or so beforehand.
Nathan had this to say 'As someone who is new to Motorsport and previously raced in a Citroen C1, I was excited but certainly a little nervous jumping into a more race-designed car with little to no driver aids.
The guys were awesome and took me through the steps and procedures and I was on my way!
For a Novice driver, these machines are extremely forgiving and you get a lot of feedback. I can imagine how hard an experienced driver could push them.
